Well the purpose of this site is for a project in My modern hawaiian history class. My teacher (Kumu Aiona) told the class that we had a project about the kings of hawaii, alot of people gave some suggestions like games, posters, or even a skit. Kamehameha the Great ruled:1795-1819 I think kamehameha I is the best king.... Kamehameha I was born at Kohala sometime in 1753-1760. Kamehameha united the islands of hawaii by invading every island (except kaua'i). Then came the sailors, they made the first trade with the hawaiians by one nail for two pigs. And then the sandalwood tree, but Kamehameha I control it. Kamehameha IIruled:1819-1824 This is the king who "screws" everything up in hawaii........ At the time of Kamehameha II, Ka'ahumanu was the kuhina nui and the missionaries came to the "Sandwich Islands". Kamehameha II destroyed the sandalwood indrusty and led to the decline of hawaiian population in hawaii. Kamehameha III ruled:1825-1854 Time to go to school.................. At this time, the missionaries gave the hawaiian people some education, but it didn't work out because some students were smarter than the teachers, so the teachers can't teach. And this was the time when they had whaling in the islands, which also led to the decline of hawaiian people. Kamehameha VI ruled:1854-1863 Better get out the cough syrup................. This was the time when diease outbraked into hawaii. First small pox plaugued the islands then leprosey. The civil war gave the sugar indrustry running. Kamehameha V ruled:1863-1872 A recarnation of Kamehameha I.............. Kamehameha V was a strong ruler, he wanted to be like Kamehameha I. The sugar indrustry kept strong. King Lunalilo ruled:1873-1874 | WOW! short rule.......................... Lunalilo was the first king to be elected in hawaii. After kamehameha V's death, diease was still a problem, but Lunalilo put strict laws of leporsey. But diease struck Lunalilo and He died. Thats why his reign was 1 year. King Kalakaua ruled:1874-1891 His powers "sucks".......................... During his reign, he was forced to sign a something called "The Bayonet Constitution of 1887" which means that the king was striped of his veto powers. And you must think that the king was stupid, but he had to sign the consititution or eles he dies. This was one of the causes of the overthrow.
